There are reports on the BlackHatWorld forums about problems with the Google Indexing API. Some users claim that while Google confirms successful API calls, their content still isn’t being indexed. Others believe the issue lies either with general indexing problems or directly with the Google Indexing API itself.
Over the past day, I’ve noticed a few scattered complaints about indexing, though such reports are common. This site, however, isn’t facing any indexing issues, which suggests the problem might be more specific.
Here are a few complaints from the BlackHatWorld Forums:
Google recently clarified its spam rules regarding the indexing API, but no specific new actions seem to have been taken, just a clearer statement of the guidelines. John Mueller from Google has pointed out that most sites misusing the indexing API tend to be spammy. The API is meant strictly for job postings and live stream content. If used for anything else, it won’t work as intended.
Many have tried using it for fast indexing over the years, and while it may briefly get content indexed, it often disappears from the index soon after. Additionally, Google doesn’t index everything. After core updates, complaints about indexing tend to rise because Google sets a quality threshold, and pages that don’t meet it won’t be indexed. With the recent August 2024 core update, it’s not surprising to see similar complaints resurface.
