Arun Maini, the popular YouTuber behind the Mrwhosetheboss channel, has released a critical video titled “Why Google Search is Falling Apart.” In this video, he outlines three key reasons he believes Google Search is struggling:
- The results page.
- SEO practices.
- The impact of AI changes.
With over a million views already, this viral sensation comes from a channel boasting nearly 20 million subscribers. You can watch the video below:
We highly recommend watching the video; it is well worth your time. While I don’t entirely agree with the assertion that SEOs are to blame, some SEOs do share partial responsibility. However, Google is equipped to manage the specific instances of SEO manipulation he highlights. One example he mentioned involved a business owner from 2010, 14 years ago, who intentionally solicited negative reviews to improve his rankings. This tactic was effective until Google intervened a few months later.
My favourite aspect of the video is how it acknowledges AJ Kohn, a prominent figure in the industry for many years, who recently launched the @Goog_Enough X channel.
However, Google faces numerous challenges that are hard to ignore. Once universally admired, the platform now often receives negative feedback from the general public. The Department of Justice case has not helped matters, and Arun Maini’s examples of searching for e-commerce products highlight significant issues with the service.
It is astonishing to witness the rapid decline of the Google Search brand. This situation raises several critical questions:
- Is it too late for Google to reverse this trend?
- Does Google even desire to make a change?
- Will any improvements affect Google’s bottom line?
