Google appears to be developing a new search function called “Hidden Gem Stores.” This displays shopping and merchant listings for various stores and brands. This does not appear to be the Google Hidden Gems algorithm, but rather a fancy label for a search feature box.
This was discovered by Brodie Clark on X under SERPAlerts, who said, “Google is now testing a new segment in mobile search results labelled ‘Hidden gem retailers’. Clicking the results brings up a list of merchant listings for each store. Is this an example of Google’s ‘Hidden Gems’ algorithm in operation, or simply a feature with the same name?
Here a screenshot provided by Brodie:
We suspect that this is part of the hidden jewels algorithm, but who knows.
Have you seen this before?
