Google’s latest algorithmic update, the August Core Update, sent shockwaves through the digital landscape. Websites that had previously weathered the storm of the September 2023 Helpful Content Update found themselves once again facing challenges. However, amidst the uncertainty, a glimmer of hope emerged.
As days turned into weeks, early signs of recovery began to appear. Some websites, previously hit hard, started to see their rankings improve. While there were momentary fluctuations due to technical glitches, the overall trend was positive.
While Google urged patience, many website owners couldn’t resist the urge to monitor their performance closely. Over time, numerous sites, both old and new, witnessed a steady rise in their search rankings. Yet, the future remained uncertain. Would these gains be short-lived, or would they lead to long-term success?
To shed light on this evolving situation, we turned to the insights of industry experts like Glenn Gabe, Lily Ray, and Marie Haynes. Their data revealed a consistent pattern: many websites were experiencing positive shifts in their search rankings.
One notable observation came from Glenn, who reported that nearly 20% of the sites affected by the September update had shown signs of recovery. While the majority remained stagnant, a growing number were beginning to bounce back.
To illustrate these trends, we have compiled a series of charts. These charts have been taken from several websites, these visuals offer a clear picture of the on-going recovery.

So, whereas the March 2024 core upgrade resulted in even more devastation for all of these sites, the August 2024 core update appears to have some potential.
We will continue to monitor this and keep you informed during the update.
